Silver
Britannias
Introduced
by Great Britain in 1997 (proof only), the Britannia is struck from 95.8% silver
and is the world's heaviest silver bullion coin. Mintage is just 100,000 per
year. Since the days of Roman Emperor Claudius, who received the title Britannicus
and inscribed his coins with DE BRITANNIS, Britannia has been associated with
Great Britain and her coins. This age-old symbol now graces the silver £2 Britannia's
reverse. In Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the Britannia is a "must have"
for collectors of large silver coins.
This large £2 silver bullion
coin contains a full ounce of fine silver. She's Britain personified - helmeted
and resplendent in her flowing robes.
The 2006 edition of Britain's
most popular silver coin is now available. The coin continues to attract
the highest levels of collector demand. The 2006 issue
returns to the original design this year, as it does every other year.
Struck
in 958/1000 'Britannia Silver', the coin is also
Britain's purest silver coin and is
LARGER than a full crown size. With
an edition limit of just 100,000 -
compared to the millions of Silver Eagles and Maples that are issued each year
- the Britannia always proves to be popular.
